Prax(us)
Throughout July Prax(us) will be conducting direct street outreach to homeless youth. By meeting youth where they are at we are able to better build trusting relationships and offer resources.
Colorado Anti-Violence Program
CAVP provides direct services including crisis intervention, information, and referrals for LGBTQ victims of violence 24 hours a day through our crisis line pager. We can also help arrange emergency needs such as food, transportation, and emergency shelter for victims of violence.

Coloradans For Immigrant Rights: Immigration Detention Center Vigil

The first Monday of each Month, at 6 p.m., the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) & Coloradans for Immigrant Rights sponsor a vigil at the Immigrant Detention Center in Aurora, Colorado. CPC will be there to tell us about their July Community Protection Campaicn and we'll hear testimony from them and from directly impacted families as well. Help us unmask the system and identify ways to challenge/expose it.

- Identify where you can use your rights
- Identify weak points in the system and direct actions to exploit them

Vigil for Alonzo Ashley

On
July 18th, 2011, Alonzo Ashley became ill with heat exhaustion while
visiting the Denver Zoo. He attempted to cool himself off in a fountain.
Zoo security and Denver Police responded. After being tackled and tazed
by police, Alonzo died. Though the coroner ruled Alonzo's death a
homicide, there were no repercussions for any of the officers involved.
Join Alonzo Ashley's family to commemorate the death of Alonzo Ashley
and other victims of violence on Wednesday, July 18th.
Civil Service Commission Hearing for Denver Diner Case

This
is a hearing by Civil Service Commission hearing officers where oral
arguments will be made in the Denver Diner appeal. Officers in this
beating case were originally fired then reinstated earlier this year.
This hearing is for the appeal.
Oral Argument is scheduled for
Friday, July 20th at 10:30 a.m. at a special Commission meeting. While
oral argument is open to the public for observation, no public comment
will be permitted at this meeting.
