The State Health Insurace Exchange System
State Health Insurrance Exchanges: The state health insurance exchange is a project that Colorado Progressive Coalition was instrumental in bringing about. A bill passed in 2011, began the process of setting up an exchange that will comply with the requirments of Federal health care reform while reducing costs and ensuring the best possible coverage for all Coloradoans. CPC is currently represented on an advisory committe that helps to oversee the development and implementation of the program where we continue to fight for the needs of our members. Federal Health Care Reform
In March of 2010, Congress finished their work on the historic health care reform bill. Thanks to the tireless work of Colorado Progressive's members and countless others across the United States, Congress has enacted the biggest piece of social legislation since the Civil Rights Act in 1965. Not only does this piece of legislation extend coverage to millions of people, it also prohibits insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions, stops the practice of recission and bans the practice of lifetime caps. In short, this bill is a first and important step towards the kind of health care system we all want for this country. To find out more about this historic and vital law please click here or the picture below.
