Economic Justice
The Campaign for Economic Justice is Colorado Progressive Coalition's grassroots organizing campaign to advance economic justice, equal opportunity, tax and budget fairness, worker's rights, and corporate accountability.
Through popular education, coalition building, grassroots advocacy and community organizing; the program engages low and middle-income people, people of color, and progressive allies to build an economy that work for all of us.
The Campaign for Economic Justice is committed to having an active voice and role in the development of sustainable and progressive fiscal policies that advance the vision of the common good. In order to rebuild our deteriorated public infrastructure we must change the public perception of government and move away from the conservative rhetoric of small government.
2010 Victory for Hardworking Colorado Families
Predatory lending has had crippling effects for our low-income communities and communities of color. CPC joined forces with Coloradans for Payday Lending Reform to take on the payday lending industry and demand reasonable interest rates. It was an uphill battle all the way, but with the support from our members we successfully passed HB10-1351.
THE 2010 ELECTION
3 Dangerous Ballot Intiatives
Anti-government, free-market extremists have qualified three dangerous measures for the 2010 ballot. The passage of these measures will produce financial chaos for our state. All counties, all school districts, all municpalities will feel the pain of a $4.2 billion loss of revenue.
For more information about our efforts to educate and engage our communities on these three measures please contact Corrine Fowler, at 303.867.0302 or corrine@progressivecoalition.org

THE ROAD AHEAD
Many Colorado families are struggling to make ends meet during these tough economic times. We are trying to find enough money in our budgets to cover the cost of our needs. Our state legislators are struggling to find enough money within the State Budget as well. Many of the programs and services we all depend on are in danger of more cuts in 2010 and 2011.
Cutting programs that are important to families and communities is not the solution - cuts can prolong the recession and drive working families further into poverty. We must come together to find a balanced approach to our state financial difficulties instead of just accepting that some peoples needs simply won't be met.
In our families we don't just look for ways to cut spending, we look for ways to increase our incomes. CPC will be working this year to ensure that our state can meet it's revenue needs. We know that long term financial reform is necessary to support strong communities and a stronger economy.
